L'article repassa els esforços que els escriptors valencians van fer entre 1866 i 1928 per apropar-se i estudiar el Tirant lo Blanc, una obra que no fou reeditada en català fins a 1873 i que, per tant, només era accessible a llibreters i erudits. El propòsit d'aquests autors, lligat al del moviment de la Renaixença, era posar en valor i demanar una revisió de l'obra de Martorell
