A través de un exhaustivo análisis de fuentes legales, religiosas y notariales, la autora analiza el tratamiento arbitrario que a lo largo de la Edad Media recibían las prostitutas y las concubinas, dependiendo «the social and economic context, power relations, moral attitudes, and ideological convictions, and were not based solely on the acts or behavior per se.
