El autor intenta trazar la evolución de la figura del vigía en la forma lírica denominada tagliet o alba en alemán medieval. Concluye que el papel que el poeta Wolfram von Eschenbach desempeña en el desarrollo del personaje lírico del vigía tiene una importancia central. En este contexto, se considera especialmente significativo el poema Der helden minne, del propio von Eschenbach
