Resumen
A juicio del autor, el Libro de los tres reyes de Oriente, que alberga el manuscrito esculatiense K–III–4, resultaría de enorme interés en la medida en que «constitutes the only complete extant account of martyrdom in the thirteenth-century poetic corpus -a factor that marks a signifcant distinction between Spain and other European nations, where martyrdom remains the dominant mode of hagiographic composition. (…) It serves in this respect as a manifestation of a dilemma that culminates in the later Middle Ages in the bleak soteriological pessimism of works such as Fernando de Rojas's Celestina» (p. 231)
